Product Name | mtCheck™ Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxykinase 1 Inhibitor Screening Kit (KITA1036) |
Description | This kit provides a high-throughput, fast Screening/characterizing/studying potential inhibitors of Human PEPCK1 method.Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxykinase (PEPCK, EC 4.1.1.32) is an enzyme that belongs to the family of lytic enzymes. With the presence of GTP, it catalyzes the reversible conversion of oxaloacetate to phosphoenolpyruvate, GDP and CO2. PEPCK1 is the rate-controlling step of gluconeogenesis and the key gluconeogenic enzyme in the liver and kidney.Overexpression of PEPCK1 in the liver leads to excessive glucose production and a type II diabetic phenotype in mice. Characterization of PEPCK1 inhibitors is a practical strategy for the treatment of type II diabetes and obesity. |
