| Description |
This kit is a fluorescent assay used to detect cell apoptosis by monitoring the loss of mitochondiral membrane potential with flow cytometry. The collapse of the mitochondrial membrane potential occurs simultaneously with the opening of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore, leading to the release of cytochrome C into the cytoplasm, which in turn triggers other downstream events in the apoptotic cascade response. In normal cells, as the NIR dye accumulates in the mitochondria, the intensity of red fluorescence increases. In apoptotic cells, NIR fluorescence intensity decreases after MMP collapse. |
